The Colorado Rockies had interest in Kyle Schwarber prior to the lockout, according to a report.

The Rockies are expected to continue pursuing Schwarber once the lockout ends.

Colorado was also linked to Kris Bryant, but it appears unlikely the club would meet the free agent's asking price.

Japanese outfielder Seiya Suzuki, who was submitted to Major League Baseball's posting system earlier this offseason, will not sign with a club until after the league's owner-imposed lockout is lifted.

However, that hasn't stopped rumors from swirling around the Hiroshima Toyo Carp hitter.

According to a report, the San Francisco Giants and Seattle Mariners are the favorites to sign Suzuki.

The Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres have also been mentioned as suitors.

The San Francisco Giants have agreed to a Minor League deal with Matt Carasiti.

The right-hander is expected to provide bullpen depth for the club's farm system.

Carasiti, 30, last appeared in the Major Leagues with the Miami Marlins in 2019.

The Chicago Cubs have agreed to a Minor League deal with reliever Matt Dermody.

The left-hander made a single Major League appearance for the Cubs in 2020, his most recent big-league action.

Dermody spent the 2021 season in Japan.

The Chicago White Sox have agreed to a contract with Cuban outfielder Oscar Colas.

Considered one of the top international free agents, Colas received a $2.7 million signing bonus.

The 23-year-old bats and throws left-handed and hit .282 with 28 homers and 116 RBIs in 187 games over his foreign career.

The team also announced it had agreed to terms with outfielder Erick Hernandez in a deal that included a $1 million bonus.

The San Francisco Giants were rumored to be interested in re-signing Kevin Gausman, but the pitcher says the club never made a formal offer.

Gausman cleared up speculation on his Twitter account.

"I want to set the record straight for y'all [because] there has been a lot of [BS] out there about this," Gausman wrote. "SF never made me an offer. Simple as that."

Gausman signed with the Toronto Blue Jays before Major League Baseball locked out players.

The Washington Nationals have signed Rusney Castillo to a Minor League contract.

The 34-year-old was considered a top prospect earlier in his career with the Boston Red Sox.

Castillo was granted free agency by Major League Baseball during the summer of 2014 after several attempts to defect from Cuba. He agreed to a seven-year pact with the Red Sox that August, with the contract guaranteeing him $72 million.

The Wei Chuan Dragons of Taiwan's Chinese Professional Baseball League have signed infielder Ronny Rodriguez.

The 29-year-old spent time in Japan last season with the Nippon-Ham Fighters.

Rodriguez has two seasons of Major League experience, logging time at all four infield positions with the Detroit Tigers between 2018-19.

Greg Maddux says he was very close to signing with the New York Yankees instead of the Atlanta Braves back in 1992.

Maddux ended up signing a five-year, $28 million deal with the Braves.

The Hall of Fame pitcher had every intention of signing with the Yankees, but he never received an official contract offer after one of the club's front office members had a heart attack.

"I went (to New York) to sign with the Yankees," Maddux said on David Cone's Toeing the Slab podcast. "I was shocked I didn't get offered a contract. It's not college. I didn't go there just for a recruiting trip. You kind of go there to sign a contract and everything."

Star free-agent shortstop Carlos Correa has hired agent Scott Boras, Correa told ESPN over the phone Tuesday night.

On the 47th day of Major League Baseball's lockout, with transactions frozen and Correa still without a team, the 27-year-old player joined Boras, the veteran agent who before the work stoppage negotiated $630 million in deals for Corey Seager, Marcus Semien and Max Scherzer.
